Online community for the building's residents
Viva INNOVATE
AAU INNOVATE has been established for a few years now, and life in the building has found a rhythm filled with activity and energy.
However, as a resident or visitor, it is not always easy to figure out what is happening in the building, when, and why. AAU Innovation, IAS PBL, startups, Foodhub, and others—we all have our own communication channels on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Discord, etc. Very few people have the capacity to navigate such a broad range of platforms.
Additionally, there is a mailing list used by Event & Support on the ground floor to send out information to residents. However, this list has proven difficult to maintain, and the email format is generally not well-suited for cross-functional knowledge sharing.
What we are missing is a shared communication channel that can bring together all stakeholders in and around AAU INNOVATE—one that people can join or leave as they wish. Not to replace existing channels, but as an important supplement that ensures residents and interested parties have a single point of entry for:
Facilities
Learn more about the possibilities in our labs and workshops. Get inspired by what others are creating and find the help you need to get started yourself.
Activities
Stay updated on what is happening in the building. Perhaps there is something relevant to you? Feel free to also share your own activities and events on Viva.
Information
Get practical information and news about the building's facilities, operational status, safety procedures, lost and found, and much more.
Support
Ask a question to the Event & Support team and other users if you need help. If you have suggestions for improvements, please feel free to share them.
Catering
Keep an eye on the weekly lunch menu and other current offers at Foodhub. Stay informed about any special conditions that may apply in connection with major events.
Community
Use Viva to get to know other residents. Feel free to share your own experiences in the building; for example, a success story, an event, a competition, or a survey.
Viva Engage as a platform for a community at AAU INNOVATE
Viva Engage (formerly Yammer) is a platform for employee communication that allows everyone in the organization to connect through communities and conversations. A sort of "corporate Facebook," if you will, where one can informally share and seek knowledge across silos.
Viva Engage is part of the Microsoft 365 suite, which AAU subscribes to. This means:
- that no one outside the group is listening in.
- hat everyone at AAU can already use their AAU account to access the platform.
- that Viva Engage can be accessed as an app in Windows, Edge, Teams, and Outlook.
For these reasons, we have chosen Viva Engage as the platform for our community.
How to get started
Go directly to Viva INNOVATE, log in with your AAU account, and request to join the group. Then you are all set.
If you do not have an AAU account, send an email to Morten Randbøll at mr@adm.aau.dk, and we will get you signed up via a guest invitation.
Afterwards, you should install the Viva Engage app on your smartphone. This allows you to stay informed and share content on the go.
As mentioned, Viva Engage can also be added as an app in Microsoft Teams and Outlook (though the latter requires your email account to have been moved to Exchange Online). In both cases, you must manually add the app to the menu bar on the left.
