The best conditions for thinking big

AAU INNOVATE is the result of a shared vision and the committed effort of a large number of people over several years. The high ambitions have remained intact from start to finish — not least thanks to a generous donation from the A.P. Møller Foundation.

As a rule, even the largest companies start small. The journey, which began more than seven years ago, has been no different for AAU INNOVATE, since the idea for a shared building and meeting place for research and entrepreneurship — a Science & Innovation Hub — was first put on the table.

AAU has at all times — both in Denmark and abroad — been known for its problem-based learning founded on group and project work in close exchange with the outside world. As a mission-driven, interdisciplinary, proactive, and socially engaged university, it became almost imperative for everyone involved to establish a hub where knowledge is not only given the opportunity to be put into play but also the opportunity to involve the world around us.

But one thing is dreams, ambitions, and plans. Another thing is having a foundation to build upon.

Fortunately, AAU has not been alone in seeing the perspectives. Several regional and national stakeholders have provided invaluable support. This applies particularly to the A.P. Møller Foundation.
